Statement

I am continuing the work of my mother and her mother.  Those two most important women in my life have instilled in me a need to collect and save a library of materials and to make the best possible use of them I can.  We three have worked to keep our lives orderly and practical in ways that reflect our desires and the demands of the time, place and society around us.

Sculpture by Sarah Peterman

I work in a large production space adjacent to my home in Junction City, Oregon. Throughout my career, I’ve adapted the size of my work to the size of my studio space, so my sculptures are now mostly large-scale. Currently I’m often manipulating steel and wood. My aesthetic of highly textural assemblage was honed over years of work as a production craft jewelry maker.
